Chestnut
Chestnuts, from the Fagaceae family, are rich in starch and fiber while naturally low in fat. Cultivated mainly in Aydın, Bursa, and Kastamonu, they are enjoyed roasted, boiled or as candied chestnuts and flour. Renowned for their large size and taste, Turkish chestnuts — especially the Aydın variety — are highly demanded in European and Middle Eastern export markets.
